Jesus Christ said you must be born again if you want to go to heaven. If you are not born again you can’t go!

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

(John 3:3)

Born again is what happens to you when you repent of your sin and turn to God through Jesus. When you surrender your life and believe, and commit to Him, Jesus changes your heart. He takes away that old wicked heart that is bent on doing wrong things. He replaces it with a new heart that wants to do good and please the heavenly Father.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

(2 Corinthians 5:17)

See, God does not want to clean up the old you. He wants to make you a brand new you on the inside.

Most religions want you to improve on the old self to make you acceptable. The truth is, the old self will never be acceptable to God. God’s answer is to do away with the old self altogether, and make you a new person – this is God’s answer.

If we want to go to heaven, we must do it God’s way.

A lot of people don’t want to get born again because they will have to give up their old lives, and they don’t want to do that.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”

(John 12:24)

This speaks of you dying to yourself and living for Christ, that His life may be lived through you, and the old you is dead and gone. This way your life becomes productive for the kingdom of God.

How do I get Born Again?

The Holy Spirit does it on the inside of you:

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”

(John 3:6-8)

It is not something we do or fully understand, but the Spirit of God does it and we know it’s real.

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

(Romans 8:15-16)

You become literally adopted into God’s family and the Spirit of God gives us an inner assurance of this.

You must repent of your sins and your idols and turn to God. You must believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and that He is the only Saviour. God will accept anybody regardless of their religion or the sins they have committed, but there must be true repentance, that is leaving those things behind, and embracing your new life with Him.

You must be willing to give up everything to follow Jesus:

“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”

(Luke 14:33)

If you are ready to commit your life to God, then pray to Him from a sincere heart. If you mean business, God will make you born again through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Dear God,

I believe that Jesus is the only true Saviour. I believe that He is your Son and that you sent Him to die for my sins and the sins of the world. I turn my back on my sin and false religion. Make me one of your children, and make me born again. Wash away my sins and come into my life. Change me and make me the person that you want me to be. I am ready to serve you now, every day.

Becoming born again is only the first step in a life of following God. It is not joining a religion, but it is literally joining the family of God through the born-again experience. It’s real!

You must get baptised in water. This is symbolic of the fact that your old person has died and been buried, and a new person has been raised.

This is what Jesus meant about being born again.
